I agree that it really does seem to work for almost everyone that can stick to it. Some people don't seem as sensitive to carbs as others. For me this is simple and far less expensive then most of the diet plans out there. I don't buy any special food, my family still eats standard American diet! I just keep things simple, just meat, and veggies and skip the bread or carby sides. I still enjoy potatoes occasionally, but they don't seem to be a problem for me, I have other trigger items though that I do need to avoid.

The only issue I have ever had is family or friends not approving of my WOE. I just ignore and move on. As I mentioned I have been eating this way for years and my blood work always excellent etc., but many people think Atkins is unhealthy, and favor low fat. My M.D. actually encourages low carb.

DH has been able to stay on lowcarb and lose weight because he still gets his beloved pasta every week....Dreamfields pasta is just the best thing ever. Carbquick is the lowcarb version of Bisquick so you can do all kinds of things with it; we love pancakes with fresh berries on them. I haven't found Carbquick in stores here so I order it from Netrition website; it is expensive but worth it because I don't use it everyday. We have gradually found our own lowcarb plan; DH had to give up the strict Atkins plan he was on due to kidney problems.

SonnySky, do you ever buy the Atkins frozen meals? Are you kidding me, I just tried the Sesame Chicken Stir-Fry it is absolutely delicious - and big (for me) - if I were to put a salad with it, it would be huge! I'll try the crustless pot pie next. What are the trigger items you need to avoid?

Loves, thanks for the tip on Dreamfields, how is it different from regular pasta? Does anyone know what the difference is between the Atkins and Zone diets?

Well that's interesting, 4KICKS! Loves, not only can you join the class action suit, your DH can go back to eating regular pasta! That's such an informative newsletter, 4KICKS, thanks for posting it. SuzieQ, I tried the milk chocolate shake and oh that is so delicious, too! One of my mistakes is that I keep forgetting the afternoon snack! I get hungry about 3 pm and wonder why!

Rather than subscribe to something like NutriSystem, WW, Jenny, etc., has anyone made up their own way of eating to lose/control their weight? What seems to work best for you? I'm still liking Atkins' low carb WOE, can't complain about being hungry and it's working.

I have developed a very small list of sugar free sweets that I eat once in a while after all of my regular dinner foods. I was a wild woman with sweets before making my LSC, and now, the only food that really makes me want to get crazy is Parmesan Cheese! BigOrangeKitty, I figured put MY RULES on my own. I was choosing foods and routines to lower my blood sugar and my blood pressure, so I experimented with everything I could find that would address those two issues. My weight loss was really focused on correcting those problems as well. Now, almost a year and a half later, I've lost weight AND gotten healthier, AND in all my yearsandyearsandyearsandyearsand YEARS of yoyo-ing, it's also the easiest thing I've ever done!

This has NOT been the case with low carb for me. I have been eating low carb and maintaining my weight loss easily for years now. HTH.

Glad to hear this type of way of eating is sustainable. I have been doing the primal/paleo for 6 months now. I also can relate to others judging this way of eating and preaching the low-fat mantra. I just say "every body is different."

Violann, thank you for the reply. Seems so much easier when you make your own rules rather than follow something strict. When we find something that is working, do we tend to eat the same things over and over? There's so much to choose from out there but so many foods we really don't need. Morganjen, thank you also, is your WOE working fine for you or is there anything about it you don't like?
