Posted a few weeks ago about needing prayers for my sister who was diagnosed with Lung Cancer. She has had a horrendous year of illness from debilitating Vertigo, lumpectomy, husband's prostate cancer, job loss...etc. She started having amnesia a few months ago. They took several tests on her brain and ruled out tumors or dimensia.
The last few weeks of tests and biopsies have been excruciating and her amnesia has worsened. She can't remember from one minute to the next and she is petrified she is losing her mind. I really think the amnesia is caused by the stress she has been under with her bad health and this lung cancer diagnosis has just pushed her over. I have read some things on disassociative amnesia and I think this might be what it is.
Tonite has been horrible as she is suffering so. We are going to the oncologist tomorrow to see what he suggests as the course of treatment for the cancer, but we are definitely more concerned about the amnesia. What a horrible situation.
Any ideas or have you known anyone with this type of amnesia? Any help would be much appreciated. I sure hope the Oncologist can point us in the direction of who can help with this amnesia.
Thank you wonderful folks on this board.
