Everyone has been so great offering tips and it's really motivating me to try low-carb again. I want to check in with all of you again in a week or so and see how everyone is doing. Hopefully we all report that we've made progress!
For the next week I will:
Eliminate all "bad" carbs including ice cream and beer. I don't drink much but even two a week doesn't do me any good ![]()
Eat clean such as good veggies, fresh meats and fish, berries, and nuts
Drink water, iced tea and coffee. With cream if I want
but no sweeteners
Choose desserts such as peanut butter (no sugar), dark chocolate (80%+ cocoa) and the frozen yogurt idea!! Love that one.
Walk my goal of 8000 steps average per day (Choose a step/distance goal that is right for you.)
Who's with me?

"Low carb" does not mean you cannot have a piece of toast in the morning. Read your labels, some breads have 15 carbs per slice, some have 25. If you want a sandwich, use one slice of bread and have a half a sandwich, put in extra meat or whatever so you don't get hungry.
Remember, almost anything except meat and dairy has some carbs. Many vegetables are very low. You can go to the Calorie King website or iPhone ap to check carb counts for the food you eat.
Quantity is as important as choices.
I lost 30 lbs cutting carbs. It was slow but amazing. I've kept it off too because I like the way I eat now.

Happy Gal, you are correct. I should have expressed that for me Low Carb isn't my only goal since i believe GRAINS cause physical problems for me. So I should have stated my ultimate goal is to go GRAIN free and while I want to lose weight I also need to go Low Carb.

Hey, I know some people do get a little bored on the low carb diet ..... but look at it this way:
Would you rather be bored ...... or heavy?

The 1st step to reducing carbs is to eliminate white flour, white rice, and white sugar from your diet...those are the 3 biggest culprits in carb addiction.
Remember carbs are also found in fruits and veggies.....those who think they can't live without carbs don't realize that they can get all the carb energy they need from veggies/fruits....the average person does not eat enough veggies/fruit per day.....we should be striving for 8-10 servings per day with only 1-2 of those servings in the form of fruit.
Try making your plate up with 2/3 of it veggies...the other 1/3 use for protein and a healthy fat like avacado.

Did someone already mention the book, "Against All Grain"?
Very nice cookbook. The author cured herself when doctors couldn't (and didn't know how).
