Hi again,
I checked my medical notes from my doctor and this is what he said to do:
Yes, drink the peppermint tea or check out some other hot teas. Also, he suggests chewing one teaspoon of fennel seeds a few times throughout the day. This is suppose to really reduce the bloating along with cramping. Drink lots of water every day, don't chew any gum,and walk about as often as possible. This also decreases gas, bloating and cramping.
The best advice is to keep a hot water bottle on your stomach/intestines as often as you like. Make sure you wrap it in a hand towel or something so you don't burn your skin. The heat will smooth out the muscles and delete cramping pains, be sure to use it during an attack, but throughout the days as well.
Try these tricks and see if they help, and do take a probiotic daily.
Hopefully you can get some relief doing these. It's hard to find just the right cure, but there are many small things to do that will bring on good relief. I hope something I have said will help you. The fennel seeds are a popular treatment, you might have to work up to getting used to that, but it does help a lot.
You can also eat some peppermint candy, as long as you don't have problems with sugar intake. The teas is really good and the heat helps with it.
Good luck, I will pray you get some relief.
Blessings.

Hi Natesgrandma, I read your other post too and wanted to let you know that around here Kaiser refers IBS patients out a RD. They follow the FODMAP diet plan as a start. It lets each patient discover what their triggers are and gives you a system to work with. You probably already know some of yours, but it helps to have a path to follow. You eat regular food, so it doesn't cost anything.
