Q4U, magnificent!  I would give myself a real pat on the back! You tried to help yourself and you did.  What you were able to accomplish is a big deal.

Granted, there are some who will really struggle more no matter what they do: a number of factors could be well beyond their control-doing the best you can is all we can do.

Obviously, you were compliant-but from what you've said, your meter could be a real problem.....I am hoping you get a Verio: your doctor may have to fight for coverage on the strips, but they can do it.

Once again, I appreciate the cost and expense, but knowing where I stand with my numbers is all important is all important because of problems with cardiac arrhythmias.

Glucose tabs and icing in tubes may not be the best choice for us-I had  a lengthy talk with my DE about this. This is an individualized suggestion for me, but 1/2 cup of beans for me works well. I don't care about taste: I know I'm trouble only because of testing. That's it. I can get shaky and sweat at 110: I seem to be supersensitive.  I am not insulin dependent and I want to stress that for newly diagnosed diabetics. You need to carry glucose tablets or honey packets etc. Follow your doctor's advice-not mine. I am not an expert.

I hope you are proud of your success-and once a again- I am fully aware that some people stay in the higher realms of glucose management.  It is within nobody's expertise to tell you what t  do - or anybody else-other than your health provider.

Q4U, you have a lot of wisdom to impart-and I have appreciated 100%. I am really delighted to see you posting here.  In earlier posts you made in this realm, you really did inspire me when I was down and throwing up my hands about what to do......you may have thought you added little to the conversation, but you added more than you thought. I truly can say you inspired me to really think about medications- not throwing up my hands etc. I really appreciate you more than you know, and I hope you become a regular contributed!

With all of this sharing-without interference from a particular poster, I vote that we actively begin a Diabetes thread.

Hugs to all and to LIFE!

I thank you very, very much for your kind words.....

A thread for Diabetics would be appreciated!  For as much as I thought I knew and as much as I have learned I am always eager to know more.... Woman Happy
