This is not an emergency room issue.
This is what a primary care physician appointment is for.

I haven't heard or experienced this, but you may want to consult an Acupuncturist. Perhaps the "shock" you're feeling is actually coming from a separate part of your body and is traveling your nerve pathway.

I had extremely bad sciatica and I learned this from PT, and itc worked amazingly well for me:
For any sciatica - type symptoms, You are experiencing these symptoms because the space between the vertebrae in that area of the back, is decreased/ too tight, due to aging, and constantly leaning forward ( as we sit, walk, type, etc)-
You can try "Mackenzie protocol" types of exercises- If you search on that and It will show you what to do.
Essentially, these are exercises that increase the space between the vertebrae in the region of the sciatic nerve. When you increase the space, you decrease symptoms because the nerve is no longer pinched. Start with the most basic ,gentle Mackenzie exercises, and then progress- You are on your belly, and stretching your upper body upward. If you do yoga, these are "cobra" and "up-dog" types of moves. Follow through with repeate exercises stretching. Worth a try! Best wishes!

I have----and how you explained was right on-----I get this weird sensation in my left knee on the inside fleshy part just a bit above the bend in my knee and it goes clear up to under my left shoulder blade in a nano second--that fast--- OMG--it makes me scheech out loud!!! Doesn't happen often and have no idea if it is due to something I do or don't do. Have talked to a ortho dr about it--and not sure what he thought about it , but next time I go to my chiro I'll ask him. Seems to me it is a nerve issue, but wow---not fun!! I go see my chiro in a few days. For me it doesn't happen that often----

Yes, it absolutely is nerve-related, and you ABSOLUTELY need to see a medical person AS SOON AS POSSIBLE to be diagnosed!!
I woke up one Saturday morning with a HORRIFIC pain in my shoulder blade (I was fine when I went to bed). As the day wore on, the pain did not decrease, and my left forearm (elbow to hand) starting going numb, as well as my pinky and next two fingers. I self-diagnosed, checked my insurance for a neurologist, made an appt, and was seen by a PA. He walked in, and I said "I need an MRI." He looked at me and was like, why? I told/showed him. Within 10 days I had major surgery and now have C5, C6 ,C7 fused, and do not have correct use of my left hand.
I'm NOT saying that your issue is this extreme, but spine/nerve issues are nothing to play with! It's NOT like an ankle sprain, nerves DO NOT REGENERATE! Get a correct diagnosis, and then go from there!!

I also had a bout with sciatica recently. It started in the right side of my rear and traveled down my leg. I could feel burning sensations on various parts of the back of my thigh and knee. Sometimes it would be on the outer parts of my knee.
It got the the point for a few days I couldn't get any sleep! I couldn't find a comfortable position while lying down. I was okay when sitting, standing or walking. So I tried to sleep sitting up and it wasn't working.
I had a few miserable days and it's mostly gone now. I tried some exercises shown on YouTube. There are a lot of physical therapists on there giving their advice and suggestions.
I hope your condition clears up!
