My chiro left the building.... :(

I've  been going to a chiropractor for YEARS!!!! It really helps me alot and always has --am not squeamish about any of it---mostly--- Found this other dr about a year ago, close to where I live,  that only used an activator--kind of a hand held punch, to do adjustments. I had a not so great experience a few years ago when another dr cracked my neck a little more aggressively than usual,   and  I ended getting ocular migraines for 3 straight days---so I stopped going to that guy. Anyway, this dr. I've been going to suddenly quit------Woman Embarassed??? But went to one of the other drs in the same place--- he does both types of methods--manual and the hand held thing---I told him my tale of woe and he was great!! Did both methods----my body responds to the manuel way better ---- he did both methods  on my neck too --he was very gentle and deliberate . I feel so much better today.  Just hate when you have to hunt for new medical people---

Re: My chiro left the building.... :(

I feel you pain.  My problem has been with dermatologists.  I had the best one for almost 16 years.  He was so good I would have him review all my tests taken with other doctors in the system.

Unfortunately he got a job over an hour away.  The person he recommend and set me up with retired after 2 years.  The next person I never got to meet because of that one leaving the practice.

Today I have an appointment with yet another new one.  Hopefully we get along and they don't leave any time soon.

Re: My chiro left the building.... :(

@wagirl Happy to hear that your are pleased with your new Chiropractor. It is so good to read that something worked out well for you.

I know what you mean about hunting for a new medical person. I went to the same Dentist for 25 years. And he always had procedures to do on my teeth. I would end up going to him every few weeks for him to replace fillings or fit me for new crowns.

But what made me stop going to him was when he filled a "new" cavity. And then with my 6 month check up, there was a cavity under the filling he put in 6 months ago. He always wanted to replace fillings. And eventually the tooth would crack and I would need root canals and crowns.

He was always saying my crowns needed to be replaced. I should have had a clue what I was in for with my first visit. My previous Dentist was fabulous. He had put 2 gold crowns on my back molars. He said gold was soft and better for my teeth besides they were far back no one would see.

On my first visit to the new Dentist, he said the two gold crowns had to be replaced (they weren't 2 years old). So he took them out and kept the gold. I should have had a clue what I would be in for.

Finally after 25 years I ditched that Dentist. The next Dentist removed the wrong tooth and all he talked about was going on a picnic with me?!?!?! At first I honestly thought he was joking. Apparently he wasn't. The tooth he removed was pristine with no cavities/filling. Shouldn't that have given him a clue, that it did not have to be removed?

Then I went to a big chain of Dental Offices. They tried to make me take an 8 AM appointment for a cleaning. I said how about 9 AM. Got an email asking me to verify I was showing up for the 9 AM appointment. I replied. Showed up before 9AM. Office locked. Sat around until 10 AM when office opened. I was told I was not scheduled. I said how come I got an email asking me to confirm the appointment. They paused and said OH, there was a family emergency for the Hygienist. (Yeah, right)  "Let's reschedule the appointment". I walked out.

I am now without a Dentist. And really don't want to deal with one. I have had it.

@wagirl So it is nice to hear your success story.

Re: My chiro left the building.... :(

I just went thru this with my rheumatologist, she was my doc for over 5 years and we had a great relationship. Then the hospital closed her office with next to no notice. Luckily she gave me a supply of my medication before her office closed - I get it via the manufacturer at a greatly reduced cost that does not hit my hospitalization (and end up putting me in the donut hole). Good Luck to you, it is never easy.

I've basically been without my PT since July.  I'm hypermobile and had been seeing her off and on since 2012, she literally saved me.  She retired, was in her 70's, and moved cross country to the California coast.  She retains ownership of her PT practice and told me who to see within the practice, but it is not the same.  Smiley Sad  I wiill be forever grateful to her, but darn, change is hard!

Re: My chiro left the building.... :(

I just lost my NP too.  I'm going to miss her. I knew her as a high school student and have been seeing her for several years.  She moved on from the local general medicine practice to a specialty practice that was more challenging and had better hours for her.  Fortunately, at one of my appointments earlier this year, she was being shadowed by a student nurse whom I also know.  The student nurse is about to graduate and has a position waiting for her at the practice.  Since I already know her, I'll be seeing her for my basic medical needs.

@drizzellla --OMGosh!!! What a horrible series of events!! I had to do the same with a dentist too, only because of having medicare now. Called and called, the many dentists that are local and convienent for me---not many would take medicare--finally found one that did a good job the first visit, but never cleaned my teeth--I had 3 crowns that needed to be replaced---I knew that and a tiny cavity too, dr wanted to do an ultra sound cleaning too--grand total with medicare was $4200 out of my pocket, aftr medicare ---- --however---am only allowed 1 crown a year  as is the norm, but they neglected to inform me of that so went ahead and had 2 crowns done plus the cavity and I had to pay $1600 before I left the office--1 crown was paid for, kind of, by medicare or it would have been alot more-- but the other one was my "treat"  and I decided against the ultra sound cleaning --that would have added more to the bill. So now still have  crown for next year---and need to go back soon for a check up---if I decide to go back there!!! Sheesh!!!

Very unprofessional move. He could have extended you the courtesy of letting you know he was moving. Sounds like you gave him too much credit, seeing he didn't give you a heads up.. Good to hear you found a replacement....Feel better now..

@wagirl Oh so sorry to hear that. So you are dealing with pain and having to go to a Chiropractor and then dealing with Dental work too? Glad to hear Medicare paid for one crown at least. And you are fortunate we are toward the end of the year that one crown can be taken care of next year by Medicare. Good timing.

Wonder what the Ultra Sound cleaning entails. Let's hope that there are no other troubles and you can sail through 2025 with your wallet intact.

Re: My chiro left the building.... :(

@pieman12 --No, I think there were other things going on in the background--there are 2 or 3 chiros in that office too, so it was not a 1 man show and he just left---am not mad at him at all. In fact, the dr I see now is great. Former dr did send out emails about his move. Not my business about his business decisions--he did kind of let me know things were fluid and mentioned the other drs and how they practice---his wife was due with a baby so he was not going to be at the office very much for the next weeks--am not mad-- but very happy I don't have to find a whole new pace to go to.
