Well, I just got back from having my first acupuncture experience. He had 18 years of acupuncture experience in China and taught acupuncture at a College prior to coming to the USA in 1982. He is a diplomat certified by the NCCAOM and is licensed by our state.
He treated my knees (both are awaiting knee replacements for over 2 years now but lung infections and cellulitis have cancelled 2 planned surgical dates so far), my left thumb, and my right shoulder. He put in the needles then used a glass suction (called cupping) to draw the painful area up.
Results: Right knee--no improvement; left knee feels fantastic. Thumb and shoulder feel good, too. The left knee hasn't felt this good in a LONG time.
I go back Friday for a repeat treatment, and a double session, and he will also address my back, my asthma, and bronchitis.
This method seems to work for me. Sure wish insurance paid, though. $80 per hour treatment. But, I haven't felt this much improvement in anything they have done for me medically.
Thanks for the suggestion, Jane R., and for those of you who also shared encouraging results.
