I saw my endocrinologist yesterday and in listening to heart, he thought I was in Afib again. Actually he we was sure. He sent me to cardiology for the EKG and it was confirmed. He said since I'm on beta blockers for htn, that's why I didn't have the fatigue and racing heart I noticed before. I see the cardiologist on 11/20. Maybe another cardioversion or maybe time to discuss the ablation procedure.

Am I remembering correctly that you use Trulicity? I have two friends that had to stop it because of afib. It is a contraindicated med if you have afib @chrystaltree .

@chrystaltree I want to wish you a positive outcome and a quick resolution. I am glad you are able see the cardiologist before the holiday.

I'll ask the cardiologist about it but it's not in the literature. My PCP didn't address it, the two cardiologists I saw didn't address it and they all knew about the Trulicity.

@chrystaltree I thought of that also but I hope that is not the problem because you have been doing so well while using it. Glad you didn't have to wait too long for your appointment.

My dad is 81 and going strong (still working) and he has AFIB and had an ablation procedure many years ago and it went great for him, he's been in rhythm ever since.
So if you have to have it, it works and isn't that bad according to him. ![]()

I had the ablation for Afib 2 yrs ago come January. The procedure reduced my episodes down about 95%. This summer I decided to try Ozempic instead of Metformin. The low dose of Ozempic will give me occasional afib, but when I tried to go up to the next dose it gave me frequent episodes.
The first endo I went to refused to give me these drugs because she knew of this side effect. I finally convinced my PC to let me try the meds and now I know why they are reluctant to give them to me.

DH is 81 and over the last 30 years had " plumbing " problems with blood flow out of the heart. This was taken care of by placement of stents over several years. He now has approx. 12 stents in place. They are working.
A few years back, " electrical " problems with pre-ventricular contractions ( PVC's ) occurred and became Afib. He was extremely lucky that a top notch ablation specialist joined the cardiology practice.
When I asked him about why I hear of so many ablation attempts that seem to fail, he explained that he maps out all the areas that have the electrical malfunction and eradicates them ( my word here ). He showed us DH's map and said it would be a lengthy procedure and May or may not include a defibrillator/ pacemaker insertion.
The ablation part took 5 hours and then was immediately followed by 3 hours to complete the device,s insertion.
DH is 99.9% Afib free: the monitor shows maybe two 5-second instances / month. He is careful to take his meds daily and is very active....walks and bikes only now. But he is healthy.
Good Luck with your ablation journey.....ask the question about " why so many repeat ablations " and listen carefully. I always suggest to have another person with you so you get to hear fully what the doctor says.
Hope this helps...
