Monday I experienced something I've never had happen before. I'm taking it as good news! My hematologist says my blood tests show no reason for what has happened in my liver (hepatic infarct). The good thing is the clots have not affected the blood flow in my liver so what we do now she said is make up a plan as we go. She explained that it is so unusual and to be honest she will be "guessing" at what to do because there really is no set plan to follow.
For now it will be to take the last 10 days of Eliquis, then the day after that is finished start on a 350 mg aspirin once a day. If that bothers my stomach, I am to go back on one baby aspirin a day like I was before. That's it! It's taken a lot of tests to come to this conclusion but I'll take it! They are finding, I guess, that aspirin works just as well, (if not better) than some of these blood thinners which, according to my blood tests, I really don't need but as a precaution, I will be taking..Ha!
Thanks everyone for your support and prayers. It was a real comfort to me.

Yes, affordable and doable explains it well! They were going to switch me from Eliquis (so very expensive) to Warfarin but my blood tests showed that whatever it is that keeps your blood thin I had plenty of it in my blood. No one knows what causes this and hopefully it won't happen again and it didn't seem to do much damage as far as they can tell. I can live with that!

She didn't recommend enteric aspirin or buffered aspirin? Easier on the stomach.

I once had a blood clot on my spleen and was hospitatized for a few days. I was hoping I would not have to take blood thinners but I had to take 325mg of aspirin and tthen years later I was switched to one baby aspirin daiily. So far so good. No stomach problem from it.
@Zhills I was never told which one.
