We are invited to a family thing for a meal at my daughter's house and one of the kids (my grandaughter) has mono. We are all expected to come. I know mono is transmitted through saliva and we won't be kissing or eating/drinking after each other. However I can not afford to get it and neither can some other elderly family members that are expected to come.
I don't feel comfortable going and my daughter is going to be upset if we don't go. My elderly mother says she isn't going and doesn't care if she is upset about it.
Would you go? Be honest. I really do want to go, but I try to avoid sick people as much as possible. I have a business to run by myself (no employees), so I have to work if I'm sick or close the doors. It's hard to pay the bills when the doors are closed.
Am I being paranoid/over dramatic? Oh, you can get it through eating utensils or dishes that haven't been disinfected also.
