Drink plenty of water, take Aspirin for fever and aches, get plenty of rest. Clear soups, jello, light foods. It will pass.

@Luvsmyfam-OTC drugs such as Theraflu can raise your blood pressure.

@wagirl mine too so I avoid anything with sudafed in it. It also makes me feel like I'm buzzing.
Anything with guaifenisin in it keeps me awake.
I've found the best thing that works for me is Claritin.

@Luvsmyfam,
I hope you are feeling better. Everyone has given you good suggestions to rest, drink fluids.
You mentioned that you have no drug insurance. Can you try Good RX? Some people have received good discounts using it.
Take care & please see your doctor if you aren't getting better.

Next time you are going to be around a group with children, it might be best to amp up Vitamin C and use the Zicam as a preventative. If you have a poor immune system, maybe forgo it altogether. Prevention is the best medicine.

@Luvsmyfam I'm not big on medicines, even OTC ones. When I get congested, I rest as much as I can, drink more fluids and use a plug-in vaporizer at night to help me breathe easier.

Get some zinc lozenges and dissolve them in your mouth slowly. Will help the tickle and the zinc really can help. Plenty of water, rest, and check for fever. Take your med of choice if you run a low-grade fever. depending upon the weather where you live, if you have your heat on in your house yet, make sure you use a humidifier if you need one to keep your air from getting too dry. Feel better!
