Lumbar Spinal Fusion

Has anyone here had this done? Did you have any complications? While I realize no two bodies heal alike, I just came from a neurosurgeon's office and that is what my course of treatment will be. I've heard so many horrible stories about this. I would just feel better if I could talk to someone about this. I realize the final decision is mine and boy, this pain is driving me nuts.

Thanks in advance! Sorry if I'm a little unclear, my mind is on overload. He even told me that when the disc is removed I'll have more problems. What the heck!!! Why would I undergo a spinal fusion and have more problems than what I already have????
