Re: Losing Weight and Exercise

I think this article may be seen by many as a reason to just not exercise.  Or, "oh, well, I will only lose a pound a month if I exercise, so why bother?"  I hear this a lot as it is.

Which is a crying shame.

And we know that both exercise and eating nutritious food (whole food, unprocessed) is crucial to good health.

I know. Studies, polls and tests are spouted here every day. They want everyone to believe them and make fun when not everyone believes or want to follow the way of the studies, polls and tests.

Re: Losing Weight and Exercise

I think one of the keys to losing weight with the help of exercise is weight training. Muscle helps you burn more calories. I know I lost a late of weight when I got serious about being consistant. I didn't do a lot of stuff but I did it every other day and upped the weights as I could.

Still clearly diet is the largest component. I think dogs are usually a good example of that. Lots of people think their dogs are fat because of no exercise. In reality if you just pay attention to food and treats they will lose weight.

The evidence is now clear: Exercise is excellent for health; it’s just not that important for weight loss. So don't expect to lose a lot of weight by ramping up physical activity alone.

Your 1st 5 words? Sorry, it is not clear! For some, maybe! For others like myself? I know and have known how to lose/gain and/or maintain my weight, for many decades now. Should I choose, or in much of the last 15 years, have "my way of exercising removed"?  It has taken me the best part of that last 12 years to be able to do what I know works for me".

"it's just not that important for weight loss"?  That is a general statement,  and while it may be true for those that participated in a study, or who knows? Maybe just answered questions to, who knows who, taking a phone survey about their exercise routine. And we all know that "nobody exagerates when they tell others how hard they exercised that day", right?

The same formula does not work for everyone, that is what has been proven, but beat goes on with new this/new info (which to me is old news"?"). I will save my long proven, facts for myself, for a topic that is worth my time typing.

I'll pass of the link, but others may get something positive out of reading it, and that is always a good thing, as long as they do not believe every theory they read.

Just my thoughts and my over 50 years of knowing what is best for this old body, both with fuel(food) input, and exercise output.

       I wasn't clear.   Those five words and the ones that follow, aren't my opinion, they are the leadin to the article.   I am just passing on the link to it, if anyone is interested.

@Bridgegal

Unless I see quotation marks (" ") around the words typed in posts, or other things on social media, I go with what the person typed as what that are saying.

As for links? I very seldom point to other websites, etc. If, and when I do, especially on this Wellness Forum, unless I believe and concur with what an article or results of a poll/study, or survey have to say.

I misunderstood your point and, as I said, did not read the article, sorry.
