Hi all...I exercise 5x a week..walk..I've done a 5 mile mud run, etc. I eat a healthy clean diet 85-90% of the time. I just can't get rid of the belly and I wanted to know if anyone else had this problem and what worked for you. I'm not looking for six pack abs. I'm 53 and I just want less of it. I don't want to buy a Belly fat book.. just want some advise from you awesome ladies.. Thank you -

Try pilates/yoga.

You can tone the area but unfortunately you cannot spot reduce. Cardio and overall weight loss will help "shrink" you all over. Sadly, the parts you want to shrink most will shrink last. Believe me, I know (though my problem is not my belly but rather my hips). Hang in there and keep up the good work!

I am 53 and have the same problem, a belly that is big no matter what I weigh, plus I have a fibroid so it is almost hopeless. I just saw a procedure called cool sculpt, or something like that, it is none evasive and takes a couple of inches off your problem area. A woman who is a yoga instructor was having it done, so you see where sometimes all the exercise in the world will not get you where you need to go. Anyway I am sure you look just fine we are all so critical of ourselves.

There's a popular saying...""Abs are made in the kitchen"".

Watch your diet. Limit sugar and excessive carbs. I only eat food with natural sugar, (fruit, natural carbs, etc.) I've eliminated all refined sugar and desserts (sad but true). But, sugar is really bad for so many things and it does sit on your belly.
I eat a lot of fiber, so it does show up at times as bloat. I take a probiotic every day (50 billion) and it helps my digestion.
Walking is excellent and try low impact sit-ups. I also had PT years ago for a sciatic nerve issue and they taught me core exercises I do every morning. It's basically making sure you always straighten your back when exercising and standing. A lot of what looks like belly fat can be poor posture. I also do core stretches on the floor every morning to help my back in the morning.
I also recommend strength training with free weights. They do wonders for working the core and aiding in your metabolism.

Belly fat is such a curse for a lot of us. I find the only way I can lose it is to be underweight. I hate that. Just an extra 5 lbs makes a difference on me. The suggestion to pay attention to your posture is a good one.

A lot depends on why you have belly fat. For instance - i have to take prednisone to control my asthma and it causes belly weight gain.
