Re: Lingering sinus infection

[ Edited ]

I suffer from them as well and am usually prescribed a Z-pk which seems to be the only one that works for me.

Also, a neti pot used frequently helps tremendously. At first it feels uncomfortable but you get used to it. I liken it to jumping into a pool and getting water up your nose.

Recommend using bottled water when using it.

Re: Lingering sinus infection

When my daughters were in elementary school, it seemed like they kept a viral infection from Fall to Spring.   In our case, the viral illness usually caused secondary issues, which the doctor treated, but waiting for the actual virus to die out in the body was often exhausting.

Thru trial and error I learned several tips that seemed to help get rid of the virus in our house.  As long as you have a virus, you are continuously shedding the virus.   You must clean surfaces daily, disinfect your dishes and glasses, bleach your toilets, wash linens, towels, and clothing frequently.  My daughters used peroxide on their toothbrushes daily, and each had their own travel size toothpaste.  I also washed their coats and backpacks weekly, and wiped down toys with a bleach solution.   Air the house frequently.
