A little off the subject-Diet soda has as much, if not more, sodium than a portion of ham.

The drink Sunny Dee has vegetable oil.

Thank you for the information about the ham.

Is a portion of ham 1/4 ounce?

lacey1, I thought you did not want any medical advice sought or given on these boards?

Someone just had to make it political, right?

Michelle O - that terrible "self-appointed food police chief"? Really?

What person with "a lick of common sense" would slam Michelle and Dr. Jill Biden for what they have been doing to promote healthy eating and exercise for children? Not to mention the other work they have done to fight hunger in this country.

There are far too many parents who don't bother or don't know how to teach their children anything about healthy eating... and far too many children who go hungry. Why would anyone lambast those who are at least making an effort to alleviate this horrible problem? {#emotions_dlg.mad}

ETA: OP, I didn't see your post before I submitted mine. Thanks for the reminder... not everyone thinks about what you posted. And if more children (and young people in general) were exposed to what Michelle and Jill are trying to teach, maybe there would be fewer people who need to watch their ham intake when they grow up!{#emotions_dlg.blush}

Wow. Is this reaction really over the OP's comment that she is not "a personal friend of the First Lady"? Calm down.

No, it isn't, and I don't appreciate being told to "calm down". If you had bothered to actually read all of my post, you will see my paragraph where I edited it... I was typing while the OP submitted hers so I did not see it, and I thanked her for her original post. Apparently the post that I was referring to (to which the OP also referred) has been deleted. I should have quoted it. Someone made a very smart @ ss remark about Michelle O being the self-appointed food police chief and trying to tell everyone what they could or couldn't eat. THAT's what made it political... I just wish I had quoted it or remembered who said it. I'm pretty sure I know but I will not accuse someone and take a chance on being wrong. The person has made political statements before where they didn't belong.

So now you can calm down... {#emotions_dlg.glare}

{#emotions_dlg.lol}I certainly wouldn't work myself into a tizzy over a mention of MO! Relax!{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}

Thanks for this. Better to avoid ham altogether, of course.

I am a lacto-vegetarian, at home. However, I have a PIA, tree-hugging, vegan nephew that lectures every one on the horrors of being a carnivore at every family get-together. So, I keep my diet preferences to myself-and when in Rome-I eat as everyone else does. Anyway, I was invited to my son's for Easter dinner and ate a slice of ham. A wonderful family get-together. Once in awhile-it won't kill me.

If you are eating ham you are not a lacto-vegetarian, you are a carnivore. Vegetarians don't eat meat, or find excuses to eat meat.

Apparently...{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}{#emotions_dlg.glare}

At any rate, Lacey1, I appreciate the warning, and your experiences as a RN in the ER (with leftovers).

I would like to add that Turkey would be another Holiday leftover that should be consumed within 2 days, or frozen for safety's sake. {#emotions_dlg.blush}
