I recently had laser cataract surgery done in both eyes. You won't be aware of the laser at all. the worst part of the surgery is before they give you any sedation and use a machine to break up the cataract. You won't feel it at all, it's just scary. The rest is fine since you'll be a bit woozy.

I was not allowed to drive to the post-op appointment the next day, but was cleared to drive the next day. I was also told not to bend all the way over or lift anything heavier than 10 pounds for 4 weeks.

It's wonderful not to need distance glasses anymore, but now I need reading glasses which I never wore before. They're very weak ones, though. Some people don't even need those.

Good luck and you'll be glad you had it done!

I would like to suggest that you get a long handled gripper or easy grip reacher that can be bought at Walgreens or Walmart pharmacy.I promise you that you will drop everything just because you can not bend over for the first day....I dropped kleenex. combs, fork you name it.You will do just fine.I had my surgery two years ago and have not had any problems.....I used the gripper all the time and now still use it because they are so handy.....

@pattiewaddle  They no longer tell you not to bend over.  That was the olden days; I remember dad having to unload the dishwasher when mom had her surgery

@Kachina624 I had both eyes done (separately) a year ago and was instructed not to bend over for one week.
