Not quite sure what you are having done.  I had cataract surgery about 12 years back and then a few years ago had laser to "clean it up."  That procedure was very simple -  no pain and no recovery time.  As I remember, I drove myself home soon after the doctor finished.  (I did go to the office next door for a quick meeting with  a broker before heading home.)

Try asking your doc, recovery time varies greatly from person to perspn

Stop being afraid of what could go wrong and start being positive what could go right.

I'll put it this way...I had surgery in the morning and went to the dentist in the afternoon.  The only thing you have to do to recover is use eyedrops several times a day.  That's all there is to it.  Surely someone in your doctor 's office went over all of this.

thank you for your replys. Yes I have been threw the drill of what to expect, drops etc. I have astigmatism condition so having new lens put in. It will be wonderful not to wear glasses and my choice to do it this way. This will be another one of my firsts since my husband passed away doing it alone. I am always apprehensive but it is a 20 minute procedure and common. My son is dropping me off and will pick me up when done. I have to be at optometrist the next morning and I will drive myself for sure.

my hubby just had cataract surgery a couple of weeks ago. I was curious as to the procedure, so I simply googled it and came away knowing more about it than he did, beforehand. it's quick and simple. maybe 20 minutes or so. recovery was easy. he needed 3 kinds of eye drops like 3/day. then came the checkups. eye healed nicely. no complications. you might need someone to drive you home, so arrange that if you can. good luck and don't worry!

I would like to suggest that you get a long handled gripper or easy grip reacher that can be bought at Walgreens or Walmart pharmacy.I promise you that you will drop everything just because you can not bend over for the first day....I dropped kleenex. combs, fork you name it.You will do just fine.I had my surgery two years ago and have not had any problems.....I used the gripper all the time and now still use it because they are so handy.....

I had cataract surgery on my right eye.  It was an easy procedure, no pain and no problems.

i drove myself to the eye doctor's office the next morning, then went to work.

The worst thing about it was I washed my face with more drops than I got into my eye.

@pattiewaddle  They no longer tell you not to bend over.  That was the olden days; I remember dad having to unload the dishwasher when mom had her surgery
