Re: KAISER Healthcare Question

@geezerette   WHOOP-DE-DOO!!  What a RACKET!  I recall when I was working for Maricopa County (17000 employees) every year is was a "****** shoot" which insurance company they could get to insure us because I guess we cost them too much $$$!

I learned my lesson with this little excursion into the world of the E.R.  NEVER AGAIN (voluntarily).  In both instances, the discharge plans the docs gave me made my condition WORSE.

I would say that the # of retirees now must near 30,000 so I guess with the paltry # of services they offered me (0) they're still making $$$.

Re: KAISER Healthcare Question

I have had kaiser for 45+ years, I always use their pharmacy and assume I need to if I want it paid for.  I do go to walmart after the dentist prescribe antibiotics, its under 5 dollars and next to my dental office.

I have been very happy with Kaiser, they do a lot of preventative medicine.  I get hounded by them if I don't do my mammogram or colorguard.  I did a bone scan wednesday that they requested.

I also had a really good experience with my hip replacement, they sent the physical therapist to my home the day after surgery.

@foxywoods  You need to CALL your insurance company directly.

No one here can help you w/your question.  Advantage Medicare Insurance has different rules for different States,Counties,Cities, Zip Codes, etc.

@Mz iMac So, if you read my post I DID call the insurance company directly. I was on the phone with a saleswoman for 2 hours.  The three agents I spoke with earlier before they got me over to Sales were difficult to understand and/or seemed like they were recent hires and followed a script. One hung up on me.

I just wanted to know if I can get some meds at Walmart like I have been getting here and Walgreens. The agent said I don't know? I prefer certain brands of generics and(there ARE differnces) wish to continue with the brand.  IDK what pharma companies Kaiser sources for their medications.

guess i'll see, i have plenty to last for a while.

Re: KAISER Healthcare Question

@foxywoods You can ask Kaiser for their formulary list and if the generic you like is on it, you can ask your doctor to prescribe it.

Re: KAISER Healthcare Question

We've had Kaiser for over 40 years.  Take advantage of the extras they offer like accupuncture and chiropractic.  $15 on my plan.  No charge for any meds I take.  My DH has 1 rx that he pays a little for.  Also many free gyms and wellness programs

Re: KAISER Healthcare Question

@foxywoods - KP prescriptions are filled at their pharmacies with the exception if the doctor orders a med which is not offered within the plan.

You can a prescription filled at any KP pharmacy for pick up.  Or you can have your meds mailed to your home.

With my plan, my prescriptions are $5.00
