Juicer just bit the dust....

[ Edited ]

I'm in the middle of a juice fast and as I'm cleaning my Omega Vert juicer, the ring on the basket just broke in half.  This juicer has been Old Dog Tray for the past 10 years and has earned its keep.  I could spend $40 for another basket, but I know it is ready to be replaced in any event.

I'm looking for another slow juicer...

Any suggestions?  Thanks for any input.

Oh nooooo.

This puts a hiccup in to your juicing! Dang.

I have an Omega Vert, as well..not used as much as you put it through,

but it’s a good machine.  Have you though of the traditional

Omega models?  I follow ‘GroundedWhit’ on Instagram 👇

and she uses her machine every day, like you do.

Omega is really the best...why venture out?

@sidsmom The Omega is a terrific juicer! I watched all of John Kholer's reviews and I'm thinking I'll stay with the brand. I don't think the vacuum juicers will be mainstream for a few years.   I don't have cancer so I'm not ready for a grind/press like Norwalk and I don't want the high oxidation of a Breville so I'm thinking Omega is my sweet spot.  Had to make my juice in the Vitamix last night to continue my fast....strained it twice but my digestive tract registered the fiber content.  My microbiome had a partySmiley Tongue

Are you watching The Fasting Transformation seminar?  Dr. Jockers is sponsoring...free.  You know I'm not a Keto fan, but there is still some good information, just ignore the misinformation.  The first day was a little rocky with two of the interviews...but stay put it improves.  Dr.J. Fung will be on in a few days and again, I'm not a Ketoist, but I like his research on autophagy and IF.  I incorporate fasting and IF (I certainly don't calorie restrict, but usually on an 18/6 schedule) into my yummy whole food plant based life style and lovin' it!  Life is good.

Thanks for your inputHeart

@phoenixbrd

I’ll check out the seminar you referenced. Fasting piques my interest,

but dodging all the Keto/Low Carb talk gets exhausting on seminars

like this. Ha.

I adore Dr. Michael Klaper & Alan Goldhamer from True North.

In fact, here’s a little video from Dr. Klaper talking about extended

fasts (1-3 days).  I’ve heard/read somewhere that extended fasts are

more effective than daily IF. I remember Chef AJ saying she likes to

go to True North around NYE to fast before the new year.

Dfferent topic....since it’s just you & me in here...(!):

Do you remember a raw vegan couple by the names of

Storm & Jinjee Talifero? During the raw movement, they were always

the example of raising children raw vegan...and Storm was the

muscular example for the men.  They have 3 kids...but it was

the middle child, Adagio, 14, & and father, Storm, who are missing.

I was watching LivePD on Saturday & they always have a

Missing Children segment.  I wasn’t paying attention but when the

lady mentioned they were raw vegan, I perked up. I totally recognized

the lady & pictures of the father.  They’ve been missing since June/July.

Sad story...and you are probably the only one who would know

being you’re connected with the raw vegan community in some way,

like I am.

sidsmon isn't the only one interested.  I've been following a mediteranean diet for probably 15 yrs with stints of vegeterian and vegan.  I watched and bought Jon's iThrive series.  I did a 30 day raw food diet years ago but doing this in January wasn't the best month.  Being 100% raw is not something I am interested in but do want to work towards 50% cook 50% raw.

I've yo-yo dieted for years.  I was traveling to see my family for Christmas and needed to drop weight fast.  For the month of November I did a water fast.  Only water.  After about 3 days I never really got hungry just more bored.  Didn't realize how much time I spend preparing and eating food.  Dec 1 - Dec 14, kept the water  but added hot veggie broth and hot herbal tea. Dec 15 - 21 spent coming off the liquids only fast.  Keep the veggie broth and herbal tea and slowly added fruit, veggies and eventually added veggies to the veggie broth for soup.  I stayed away from starches and grains for this week.

Went home to see my family on Dec 22.  I had lost 35 lbs  but after I got back, gained 10 of them back so working on taking them off.  I think I am finally ready to go WFPB am eating less fish, more veggies and salads.  Decided I will be 100% WFPD on March 20th, the 1st day of Spring.

I am also seriously thinking of getting a tattoo on the inside of my wrist of 03-20-2019 so if I feel my resolve weakening, I can look down at my wrist as a permanent reminder of the choice I made for my health.  I have no tattoo's so that would be a big thing for me.

As for your juicer's death, I have a Breville but haven't juiced in awhile.  I also want to move on to an Omega as well.  Good luck in your search.

My Alternative Healing Sisters!

@vickie25

I think the First Day of Spring would be a beautiful day to begin

your journey!

@phoenixbrd

Thanks for sharing. I, too, like Markus/Cara & swim by their YT channel

from time to time & Longo’s research was just introduced to me.

You are a wealth of information!

Another thing I’m doing this year is studying & applying Ayurveda.

I happened upon a YT channel called HeyMonicaB.  Her excitement

makes this practice very adaptable & easy to understand.

Like fasting & eating simply, Ayurveda has been practiced since

time began. I like the idea it works with Life’s, and also your own,

natural rhythms.

Hope all of you have a beautiful day! 🌼💛

I’m such a Kapha, it’s ridiculous!

I’m getting stagnant & for my 59th yr, I want to shake things up!

I like the Ayurveda habits & processes.

I don't recall if we have ever chatted, but during a bout of the flu a few weeks ago (and awake at all hours of the days and nights) I read with interest and enthusiasm your posts on this thread.

Would you be willing to engage in a discussion on fasting? I am contemplating starting a fast and would like to get some tips from those who have successfully fasted for a pre-determined amount of time. I have nothing but total admiration for you for this major accomplishment. I do, however, understand if you would rather not post about this (controversial😉) topic on a public forum and I  certainly respect your privacy.
