I had my first Vertigo episode in January. I was driving to work and I had to pull over. I was about three blocks from work and I tried to pull myself together long enough to get to work. I was sweating, severe nausea, and everything was spinning. I was waiting for the chest pains to start as I was sure I was having a heart attack. I had a co-worker drive me to the nearest Urgent Care. After several tests, they diagnosed me with Vertigo. Gave me some medicine and told me to get an appointment with my doctor. I ended up going to my ENT who said that I had a viral infection in my right ear and he was certain that it had caused the Vertigo. He did a hearing test which showed that I had lost a considerable amount of hearing in that ear. He have me prednisone and said that there really wasn't anything else he could do since it was viral. I have an appointment next week to see him again to see if any of my hearing came back. I'm pretty sure that it hasn't.

It is terrible, and it comes on just out of nowhere. The medication they gave me caused me to be so tired and it really doesn't help clear the vertigo.

I ended up having to go to a hearing doctor and he confirmed the hearing loss but did say it can take up to one year to come back. While I do still have some hearing loss in that year it's not nearly as bad as it was. Hopefully your hearing will improve as wellI had my first Vertigo episode in January. In the fall I get it sometimes and it is caused by sinus and allergy issues.
