anyone dealt with pain on the top of your foot?  I injured it walking in sand at the beach wearing flip flops.   This was back on July 4th, and now it's still hurting and is much worse.  I feel I'm probably re injuring the area and now I can hardly stand on it and walking is very painful and burning as well.  icing makes it worse, wrapping is helping somewhat  cannot take anti inflammatory Meds.  Just wondered if anyone has  had instep pain what things you found helped .   May just come down to making an appointment with a podiatrist.

You could have a facture in one of the bones.  See an orthopedic dr.

Years ago I was just walking and fractured a bone in my foot.  Had 2 surgeries to "fix it" but they didn't fix it.  Smiley Sad  Now I can usually only wear Alegria or Skechers.

I have .... but the cause is different, so perhaps this won't help you.    For a couple years I was having problems with pain on the tops of my feet .... like someone had dropped a brick on them and I was dealing with the resulting pain.  I had no recollection of any injury, so I muddled through it for quite a while.

Later, my doc had sent me for a lumbar epidural to help with pain in my lower back ..... and the foot pain vanished!   I spoke to the epidural doc and he the foot pain was caused by compressed nerves in my back!  Since there was no pain going down my legs, I never made the connection!

Seems like we have different sources, but please do try using Aspercreme on the foot pain; it really helped me.  HTH

@Tinkrbl44  Thank you for your reply.   I can understand how you didn't connect your back to your foot and the only way I know is that is when years ago I had a back injury and learned about the back being connected to everything!  So glad your foot pain cleared up for you.!

In my case  I know it originated from my walk on the beach.  It was pretty well gone till I re injured it last week.   I will try Aspercreme over the weekend but  I do feel It's time to make a dr. Appointment Monday.    Thanks again !😺

@spent2much      I'm very sorry that your surgeries didn't help your foot.   I have found that surgery isn't always a success unfortunately.

Re: Instep pain

[ Edited ]

I have similar pain in my right foot.  My podiatrist said it was arthritis.  I use a prescription cream called diclofenac sodium.  Not sure it helps a whole lot, however.
