Insect Repellant suggestions - healthier versions

Anyone have any suggestions for this?  It won't be long (hopefully) before we have need of this.  I need something to apply that is not full of chemicals and that will not be so irritating to my sensitive skin.

Any time I am outside doing yard work, if there is one bit of me that is uncovered, an insect will find it and bite me!  And I get such terrible reactions to anything and everything!

Thanks so much!

Here in the deep South, where gnats, mosquitoes. etc. are abundant, Skin So Soft by Avon, is the most popular insect repellent.

Drug stores, etc. even carry it and you just rub in on exposed skin full strength and it works like a charm, plus it softens your skin!

You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

What about wearing a non-topical repellent? The wristband type where some of them can be worn around your ankles, too. There are also the kind that you can clip or stick to your clothing.

@AngelPuppy1  Many years ago a pharmacist told me to take Vitamin B-1 instead of chemical insect repellents and I have to say it worked for me.  We have a vacation cottage by water and while everyone is covered in goo and still slapping at their skin, I am virtually untouched by mosquitoes and bugs!  They get close and keep going by.  You have to take if for about 2 weeks before it kicks in.

Avon Skin So Soft oil. Works for me. I also am very impressed with the DynaTrap device. They work for us so I don't even have to apply inscet repellant anymore.

Mosquitoes have always chewed me up my entire life.A few years ago I came upon Off Clip Ons.You clip it on your shirt or pants & turn it on.Since I’ve been using it I’ve gotten zero bites!! When I forget to use it I get consumed!!

I will have to get some of this Avon stuff. Last time we were in Punta Cana the mosquitoes were rabid and I had taken Off deep woods repellent. It melted off my nail polish and took the finish off our insulated plastic tumblers! How scary to put that on your skin. I actually sprayed it in my eye by accident and I don’t know how I wasn’t blinded. Never again with those chemicals.

@AngelPuppy1   Last year I sent my Granddaughter to camp with Listerine in a spray bottle to spray around the screened tent. Not as many bites. I spray it lightly in air around dogs for gnats also.

i also used it in dog fence and no ticks.

A fan will keep  them away also.

I like to use drops of cedar wood oil and peppermint oil in water and spritz it on. I also pray it around the foundation outside.
