@151949

I am glad @Moonchilde brought up temporal arteritis.  It was my first thought and concern.

If I were you, I would consult an MD for the differential diagnosis.  Best to you.

For me, this is within the spectrum of symtoms which plague me due to chronic migraine and is especially bad when I get spikes in migraine; e.g., just went through a week of intense level 7-8 migraine pain, because I ate something with sea salt in it in error.  A BAD mistake, for which I suffered for an entire week with that ice pick stabbing pain in my left temple, amongst other migraine-related pain.

@151949   Please have this checked out by your doctor for your peace of mind.  I don't want to scare you, but go to your doctor now.

Sounds like trigeminal neuralgia to me.   A blood vessel hitting a nerve.

Since 2003, I get that almost once a year.  Lasts a month or longer.

MRI of your head could show that.

Really sharp pain always on my right side - from blinking, eating, touching my face, brushing my teeth...........

Never my left side.  My right eye tears up really bad.

Was on Neurontin, now Gabapentin.

If that is what you have, I would like to know what treatment the doc suggests.

But I hope that's not what it is.

It's not in the correct area of the face to be TN. Thank Goodness. It hasn't hurt for the past 2 days so I'm hoping whatever it is  - it just doesn't come back.
