Re: I need a total knee replacement

@Evie2004,

Thanks for checking on me, and my progress.   I am now 10 days post op, and feel I’m doing very well.  Without a doubt the first week is the hardest part of recovery; getting to day 7 brought a big sigh of relief.

I have had 3 PT sessions already; my bend and flex measurements are above what is expected at this early stage.  I am walking with a cane already, and managing well on half of my prescribed pain med.

I see my ortho surgeon this coming week, and am looking forward to getting the tape and adhesive off my incision.   My leg is still quite swollen, and I have one pressure spot that bleeds a little with exertion.  Sleeping at night is tricky, and done mostly in the recliner, but I am adapting and am still very pleased to have the procedure behind me.

I agree with @SeaMaiden that bonesmart is a most helpful site.

Re: I need a total knee replacement

I had mine done in May and have done so well. You do have to do the therapy but it is all worth it. They wanted me to walk a lot so I was glad it was nice weather so I could walk to the mailbox & back. It was slow going at first but did better all the time. They had me up walking a couple hours after surgery & I think starting right away and keeping at it was the best thing I could do. I am so glad I had it done should not of put it off so long. It is wonderful walking pain free now. Good luck do what they tell you & you will be fine.
