@Jackhound MomI would go to an endocrinologist, rather than  a PCP ,if possible

It's not without problems too, but I'm on Janumet (Januvia/Metformin combined).  My numbers are good.  Been on it for years.

Re: I'm Learning...(Diabetic RX's)

@cherryYes I will have to try another.  Last year DH & I sat down with one who switched me from Lantis to Levimer.  She is 2 hours away and round trip was a 7 hour day with our dog.  Our new hospital is bringing in specialists so fingers crossed for this.

Thanks again @cherry

You have every right to vent.  Keep fighting for yourself and if you don't feel comfortable taking a medication - don't let a dr bully you into taking it.  There has to be something out there that will work for you.

@cherry  Thank you so much for your suggestion!  I will definately look this Dr. up.  I am glad to know you have found a solution to your problem.  I think I will have to find my own also , but I will take the advice given here and pursue another doc, talk with pharm, and revamp my diet.

@Jackhound Mom

Since you mentioned ‘revamp my diet’, I suggest (like other

suggestions mentioned here), that you read Dr. Neal Barnard’s,

‘Program for Reversing Diabetes.”  If you are like me, you want to

read everything you can get your hands on. And anyone will say,

an educated decision is always the best one. I guarantee once you

read this, you will begin his program immediately. Free & easy to follow.

not sure if you are seeing your pcp or an endocrinologist, but the endo would be the best person to prescribe for you if you continue to have such severe problems.  they are the diabetes experts

@Jackhound Momon my diabetes thread ,there is advice, about how to eat to prevent hunger. If you starve yourself, it won't help. You need food, protein and healthy fats ,help make you feel full

Re: I'm Learning...(Diabetic RX's)

The hardest part is finding meds that work for you.

This takes trial and error. Perseverance and patience.

Most important do not give up. Give time time, if you trust you md go with their recommendation.

Good Luck, and good health.
