During menopause my thyroid collapsed altogether (my doc says that's not unusual) so I've been taking thyroid medicine since then.

Now I'm on PREDNIZONE because my liver turned on me last year. I HAVE to take it or else I'll need a liver transplant. I have other health woes which I won't bore you with now; I'm sure you get my drift.

I'm hot and uncomfotable all the time and as if this weren't enough, my sister's having thyroid problems and needs to keep the house warm enough so that she won't freeze to death. I feel so sorry for here...this last year has been awful, not just in regard to my family's health, right on down to the cat. But now I'm really warm, all the time; it's the dead of winter and I have my bedroom window open so I can be comfortably cool.

Even my neighbors are having a terrible time. They added on a wing to thier house to accomodate his mother-in-law because she can't live by herself any more. It took twice as long as orginally scheduled and probably cost twice as much. And on top of everything else, yesterday afternoon someone used his driveway to dump construction debris.

He told me this today, and then he also told me that the house next to his was on the market on 3 days and it went for $900,000 Woman Surprised I nearly fell out of my chair but this is considered a good area and it has great public schools.

I occasionally get mailings from individuals or real estate businesses offering to buy my house, sight-unseen. The most I've ever been offered is just about $500k. I mentioned this to my neighbor and he said, "oh they're low-balling you". I guess he's right and the next time someone sends me an offer to buy my house for some lowball price, I'm going to tell them, Offer me at least &900,000+/- and then I'll tihink about it.

I sure do wish all this stuff would go away and that we'd all feel good.

So sorry to hear this. Will say a prayer for you. Maybe you would like to check out Balck Ice Cooling system. You can buy a wrap for your neck, etc. to keep you cool and not soggy for hours. My friend has this and depends on this for her condition.

I also saw something called Paincakes . These round discs that stick to you and keep you cool.  HTH

@FuzzyFace I wish for better days ahead for you. It's the middle of February, miserable and we're all feeling housebound. Dream of Spring, the renewal of beautiful flowers. Hope your day is better...

@FuzzyFace

You are really going through a serious bout of ill health.  I hope you will overcome all of it.

I have read medical articles about milk thistle being used for liver disease and liver inflammation.  Perhaps you can read about it. I realize you are taking prednisone for your serious problem.   But, I thought you might want to take a look.

Ask your doctor to see what he/she thinks (if you are interested). I read that it is taken to reduce liver inflammation and safe FOR MOST PEOPLE.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if it could help you? I wish you all the best regarding your health.

@FuzzyFace I'm sorry you are having such a hard time...I could not take the prednisone.......goodness what a mess. Be careful about people offering you things especially in real estate....get an appraisal.....people and real estate agents can and will take advantage......and remember, if you sell, you pay their commissions..which is usually very high at 6%...........if you buy, your taxes will increase....they are based on the selling price...so if you've lived there a long time, stay if possible......it will continue to acrue in value.

My heater's been broken for 2+ years...I use small space heaters and I do like it cold anyway....so I work it out. Companies seem to know women are alone and need help and many will take advantage.....I was a realtor and did not like it at all as I felt bad for people. I quit....

You have a roof...a home....a sister and family.....hang on tight and love each other. I'll be thinking of you Heart

Be well sweetie.

eta // if you are on the W. Coast I'd love to buy you a coffee one day...we'll go out and take a drive to the wharf!! Smiley Very Happy
