I first "joined" this about 4 years ago after doing my due diligence and checking it out thoroughly. I have Medicare and an excellent supplemental plan through UHC.

For all these years only ONE Rx has had a better price with my insurance coverage than with Good Rx.

Again today. I had a refill for my thyroid med. A 90 supply with only Medicare and supplemental was $39.79.

With Good Rx it is $19.89.

2 years ago I estimated that in that period alone Good Rx had saved me about $200 as I have a few meds I have to take for my diabetes, thyroid and hypertension.

My son and his family also use it and are very happy with the savings.

Re: I LOVE GOOD Rx

[ Edited ]

I used it for an eyedrop prescription prior to cataract surgery a few years ago. My insurance didn't cover it. One bottle was over $400 and Good RX brought it down to around $150. Still ridiculous but it save me $250 for a tiny bottle.

@Love my grandkids.  I'm glad you've had a good experience but I've never found a savings with good RX over my supplemental drug plan.   I did save once on a drug for my dog.

@Love my grandkids.

Goodrx is great and a few weeks ago I read about SingleCare which has the same idea as Goodrx but has things even cheaper. No sign up or anything, works just like Goodrx so try that too.

It also has free delivery to some place

just some examples-

SingleCare vs. GoodRx: Cost Comparison
Medication NameLowest SingleCare PriceLowest GoodRx price
Atorvastatin$0.38$4.00
Citalopram$3.05$4.00
Fluticasone Propionate$2.66$12.33
Hydrochlorothiazide$0.04$4.00

I keep forgetting the name of SingleCare so will have to put it in my phone or something. Or I'll look up Goodrx vs... and it comes upSmiley Happy

@on the bay Thanks, I have heard of it but I'm going to stick with Good Rx. I really don't want to get 2 of these services involved at this time but I'm sure others will find it helpful.

And something to remember: Not all the prices shown on their website will be the same at the pharmacy. They are subject to slight fluctuations.

@Love my grandkids,

you don't sign up for a service or anything. You just look on the website (no sign up) and it will compare prices at pharmacys near you for the rx you are searching for. Thats it.

No obligations just information.

I don't use either of these cause I rarely have rxs and when I do I only pay $5 or less (I know I"m very fortunate)

but I do look at them for my daughters. If the cheapest pharmacy is not too far or inconvenient, it can be worth it.

I also love GoodRX!!  Prescription prices are all over the place and I have discovered over the last two years that Goodrx is the best!   It's worth the wait of a few minutes when the coupon that I bring in has to be approved.  So far it has each time and it seems that most medications have a GoodRx coupon.

Another thing that I discovered is that CVS has the highest prices.  For example, something that would cost me $350.00 for three months with just my insurance would go down to $150.00 at CVS. with GoodRx.  However there are usually at least 6 other pharmacies that are much cheaper!  Most of them for the same prescription would go down to $25.00-$40.00!

Beware of using Good RX at CVS!  You just won't get the great discount that you can at almost every other pharmacy.

I have wondered how it all works.  How does Good Rx make money?

GoodRx has been great for me in the past, but the last time I went to use it, the price of my prescription had skyrocketed! There is a script I fill monthly which costs me $42 if I go through my Medicare Advantage plan. When I used GoodRx, the price was $28. Last time I went to fill my script, the GoodRx price was $66! (The Walmart pharmacy is always the cheapest for me, followed by CVS). This had never happened before and when I checked the price again, just before writing this, the cost was back down to $28.

Because of this unpredictability of GoodRx, I don't feel confident relying on it for my prescriptions. Since open enrollment is almost here, I've been shopping for a new health insurance plan and I think I've found the one I want to go with.  Among many other pluses, all of my prescriptions are either free or $7 at the most!

I've had to resort to this as well and am so grateful for it.
