Thanks to all on these boards who were so supportive during my pre-op/"research & worry" phase before surgery. I learned much & received comfort from the postings about personal experiences and well wishes. I had a total/complete hysterectomy last Tuesday (laparoscopy) and realize how fortunate I was. Doc found 'severe endometriosis' on my right side & surgery took longer than anticipated since they kept going with the lap vs opening me abdominally, and my recovery has been much easier than I anticipated. I've had virtually no (what I would consider) PAIN....just some discomfort that's been easy to control so far. I was able to get up & walk that night --went into O.R. at 12:35 pm, woke up in the recovery room & I was released by 7:30 pm to go home, even though I had the option to stay if I wanted. Now I've convinced myself to take it easy, no matter how good I think I feel, so that I can fully recover and begin this next stage of my life (will be 49 next week and am anxious to get healthier and FIGHT the menopausal issues of weight gain etc) I am very positive, & grateful, that things have gone so well this past week. Thanks again! :-)
