Losing 'white' isn't necessarily about losing enamel. A lot of it is staining. If you smoke, or drink coffee/tea a lot, or dark colored soft drinks, as well as a number of foods that cause staining, then you'll have more staining.

One thing is that if you do drink coffee or tea, or the dark soft drinks, keep a bottle of water there, too, and take a drink of water after every time you take a drink of the soft drink.

There are a number of ways to preclude staining - mostly just logical stuff like brushing your teeth well after consuming anything that causes staining.

Otherwise ,there's always the whitening you can get at the dentist's office. There are also the whitening things you can buy but those ONLY remove staining and don't go beyond that. So, if your problem IS beyond staining you need the professional whitening.

Every time I think about 'white' teeth I think about that 'Friends' episode with Ross. He got his teeth done sooooo white that they glowed in a black light. Soem of Ross' debaucles were hilarious.

It was pretty hilarious! He had a first date with this girl (as he always did when he did something really messed up) and he kept trying to just keep his mouth closed or cover it when he talked. Then, as it turns out, she had a black light and turned it on. So it went from dark to black light and he was smiling. Freaked her out. I'm laughing just thinking about it.

When he got the spray tan - that was another great Ross debaucle.
