Try putting yourself in the person you are caring for's place. Aren't you glad you aren't him/her? When I was a student nurse we had a clinical instructer who would tell us this when we had a difficult patient. Try to think of how you would feel if you had to live that person's life.
Working in ICU all my life I we saw a lot of very sad situations. Whenever I had bad things going on in my own life I could go to work and seeing those poor patients on ventilators , heart pumps and dialysis and all the other machines it was pretty easy to let go of my own troubles and think how lucky I was to be the care giver and not the patient.

house cat; classes are your friends. Take yoga or go swimming. Anything where you can get away and do something physical. Or meet friends for gossip/coffee.
Of course, I am the ill on in the relationship and I encourage DH to get out of the house and enjoy life. It's bad enough that I am other-abled. I hate to see both of us rotting
