@wagirl Unfortunately, inserting anything into your ears risks injury as the ear canal is curved and not visible to the person inserting something. The ear drum at the end of the canal is fragile and inserting anything (bigger than your elbow, as the old saying goes) risks injury to the ear drum, which is vital for your hearing.

I think doctors have changed their ear-cleaning policy in recent years. During my last few annual physicals my PCP told me that they no longer recommend ear cleanings, that ones ears will push out unneeded wax and dirt naturally.

And the more I experience life, sometimes I do think there is such a thing as dumb questions. And I think many of life's questions can be found with a modicum of research.
I don't agree on that at all, Anyone can post any question or discussion they wish as long as it is within the Q guidelines. Shouldn't have to be subjected to ridicule!!!
Personally, I'd rather hear discussions and responses from people on these boards than trust google or AI.
Just yesterday, I googled an inquiry....clicked on the first three showing...ALL different and quite contradictory answers!
Here nor Google should not be considered definitive sources for medical assistance. As for contradictory info, this place is rife with it. 😆
I agree @bikerbabe
But at least here, you can read about other people's experiences. I have learned a lot from suggestions here, (cooking, baking, makeup).
Take medical advice from either site? No Way!
It can, however, be helpful to learn how other people have dealt with issues. It also can be comforting to know that others have gone thru the same trials. Sometimes it is nice just to be able to talk about things.
Mine was a food question, not medical....and the results from Google were totally useless.

@I am still oxox If all your home attempts at fixing your ear problem fail, an ENT doctor is probably needed. My DH had fluid that was behind his eardrum and needed an ENT doctor to solve the problem. Liking the doctor was not a concern to him. He needed the expertise of a specialist to solve the problem. I wish you well in getting this problem taken care of.
