Did anyone experience what I consider to be extremely early menopause?  I stopped having a period when I was 37.  I haven't began ( or don't know if I will) with any hormone therapy.  I'm now in my fifties and still experiencing tremendous post menopausal symptoms.  This is a talk I'm planning on having with my dr this February.

I had a hysterectomy and ovary removal when I was 37. I had suffered with a huge fibroid tumor and endometriosis for years.  The pain was constant and unbearable.  I had heavy bleeding for 2 weeks out of the month. I went through surgical menopause after the surgery.  I had some severe menopause symptoms for a year or two after the surgery and I did take HRT.  However as I asked questions and did my own research, I had second though about HRT.  I was just 39 and my doctor told me I should stay on HRT until I reached menopause age.  No way was I going to take hormones until I was 55 or even 50.  So I stopped. I had some occasional mild hot flashes for several years but I was fine in every other way.  My libido bounced back.  I was concerned about bone loss but that never happened.

I was on bio-identical cream for four years until I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Don't believe that they are completely safe.

Never had any "hot flashes" or anything else.   In fact, I am ALWAYS cold (probably WHY I can handle the Arizona heat pretty well...

I don't know what to think anymore.  I had a rough menopause, but didn't take anything.  Awhile later, I asked my OB/GYN about trying HRT.  Took Prometrium and the bioidentical gel for less than 2 years.  I don't really think it made much difference, and I stopped.

Last year, was diagnosed with breast cancer, so I'll never know.

Endocrine function is something I don't want to mess around with. Vitamin D is as far as I go and yes that vitamin is hormone technically.

I had a total surgical menopause in 1993 at age 43.  I never had hot flash problems so much as insomnia & emotional issues & could think straight.

Tried oral estrogen early on & it didn't agree with my liver, caused a burning sensation in my mid-section, so my Dr. at the time switched me to estradiol patches.  Over the years, I've tapered down to the lowest dose patch they make but am still on them.

My current gyno has zero problem with me being on them, as long as I get regular yearly exams & mammos, which have never shown any sort of problems.  My bone density is excellent.

I've tried skipping a week of the patch & I justgenerally feel better when I use them. My well-being is priceless to me, so I plan on using the patches for life.

With all the negative feedback I got with regard to hormone replacement therapy,I decided to go it on my own. I made it through menopause,hormone replacement free. I'm glad I did!!

@Carmie  Yep

ETA:  We all have to do what's right for us & what's right for you, isn't always right for me or anyone else & that's fine.
