Re: Hormone replacement therapy

@Pink123

Sounds like you went through a lot. Glad your doing well now. I also appreciate all the info. I understand exactly what you are saying. Not confusing at all.

I stopped using the bioidentical progesterone cream long ago. Not sure what year that was. I don't use any kind of hormones. They only checked them once in my life? I'm not going to bother looking for a doctor if I need them.  Waste of my time. I see my regular doctor once per year to get my thyroid medication.

Re: Hormone replacement therapy

@Nightowlz  I'll take it one day at a time as it has been so helpful whilst still much younger.

My theory is if you are ok and it is not broke don't fix it.  Could taper off, but does is so low doubt anything would matter.  Keep posting as it's an interesting subject.

I agreed with a former poster. Men can get their Cialais and /or Viagara, but we cannot.  ha. Smiley Happy

Re: Hormone replacement therapy

Many years ago, I was given estrogen. I had ill side effects that the doctors knew nothing about...not even my gynecologist and internalist.

Finally my family doctor said, "since it's the only new thing you are taking, I suggest you go off of it and see if it makes a difference". I  did and I avoided what would have been a very serious surgery. My problem left me and never returned it totally ended my pain.

Unknown to me, I had hemangioma's on both lobes of my liver that were growing and giving me lots of pain. Within just weeks of stopping the estrogen they almost totally disappeared and have never returned. So, for me, stopping it  was just common sense. Thank God for a wise family doctor as my internalist and gynocologist wanted me to stay on it.  I have learned to listen to what my body is telling me.....in this case...it was the only new treatment  I was taking so my family doctor took that into consideration...where the "specialist" didn't.

@jubilant - I definitely think we should listen to our bodies since we’re the ones who know it best.

Re: Hormone replacement therapy

After my first horrible night sweat, I started using yam cream as suggested by a nurse who is a personal friend; the night sweats stopped, and no other symptoms arose. I used the cream for about 9 months. My SIL almost died as a result of a HRT ide effect, no way was I ever going to take it.
