I had an echo scheduled for today, but Saturday morning I woke up around 2:00 am with severe palipatations. ( Midnight shadow had a discussion about this last week) I got up and got some water and thought they would stop. They continued for 2 hours and wore getting worse. I finally woke my husband and went to the ER. My heart was going in and out of AFib. They admitted me to the hospital around 5:00. I had an echo and all the blook work. They also gave me cardizem CD and finally the Afib stopped around 12 noon. I was allowed to go home that evening. My atenolol was cut from 100mg to 50mg and I was to take cardizem 180mg. I was fine on Easter but this morning I woke up took my medicine and the palapatations started again. They again lasted long so back to the ER I went. I had a cat scan because they thought I had a blood clot but luckily I didn't. After 3 hours my heart returned to normal. I didn't go into Afib today. They sent me home and I am to take 25 mg of atenolol before bed. I have an appt with a cardiologist on Thursday. This is so frustrating..I just wanted to let you folks with this problem know, especially midnight shadow who started the thread last week.
