They can personalize a diet to someone's specific needs. Many may not realize this.

To me, this is really important-that someone can have a diet personally tailored to their personal specific needs and requirements, that is made up just for them, with their medical and health history kept in mind.

Mainstream Registered Dietitans spew the same meat/egg/dairy/oil rhetoric as mainstream doctors.  They're just another layer chirping into your ear your incorrect/inflammatory diet causing your illness of meat/egg/dairy/oil is correct.

In fact, taking advice from a mainstream RD is probably WORSE than a mainstream doctor because their $$$ consultations might be an out-of-pocket expense, not covered by insurance.  Their practices are marketed as more 'salesman' than health professional.  I also feel most mainstream RD's monetize their services when people are most vulnerable.  Chances are these sick people are spending their budget on Dr visits & medications...to add insult to injury, the mainstream RD offers information which is available free online.

I listen to plant-based RD's only.  They provide any answers to questions you might have, provide menu/meal ideas & shopping tips.

Two of my favorites,

Jeff Novick, MS, RD, LD, LN
Julianna Hever, MS, RD, CPT

They have the same ideology as the plant-based leaders of McDougall, Esslstyn, Barnard, Campell, to name a few.  Their message is consistently low fat, whole foods, plant based for everyone.   No need for a Special Snowflake diet plan.  No need for a 'specific need' diet.   The body responds well on the CORRECT diet.

Hundreds of thousands of people everyday follow a FREE online plant-based eating plan, reduce/eliminate medications & prevent/eliminate all the modern day illnesses (heart disease, obesity, diabetes) that plague most Americans today.   Just like the lady in the original post.  She lost weight, helped her heart condition & cured diabetes!

Thank you. I'm not very brave, just trying to play the hand I've been dealt. Bless you and good health!

@Trinity11

I LOVED your comment!

Yes, small changes can make an impact,

but greater changes & 100% consistency can make a greater impact.

But quoting Dr. Michael Greger of nutritionfacts.org,

"We can’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good."

Let us know what changes you're considering.

Thank you, @Lacey1, for sharing your story...a success story commonly heard among the plant-based community, as mentioned in the original post.

It's amazing how quickly the body wants to 'right the ship' when fed with a low fat, whole foods, plant based diet.  Nice!

Oh good grief, so now you want to proclaim that dieticians you don't even know  now don't know what they are talking about ... but YOU do?    Seriously?

Do you have a degree in nutrition or have legitimate expert status?

Any credibility you might have had here just went out the window.

It sounds more and more like religion, only get information from people that espouse the same belief system I do because no one else can be trusted.

Ita! Another Internet Quack shilling for other Internet Quacks.

I hope posters understand those sites she pushes the sites and links get money $$$$ for traffic on their sites plus they push their products for sale when you go there, ain't nothin "free" about it. I feel sorry for her because she needs to do this (I guess she thinks she's somehow important because she pushes this stuff on a shopping channel lol) but I feel more sad for posters who don't realize what she's doing. SMH that QVC allows this quackery and solicitation. Posters BEWARE of this shilling!!!

"It's on the Internet so it must be true!" Lol.  She's probably a French model as well. I guess dietitians and doctors should stop wasting their time going to school and learning their profession since clearly all they need to the Internet to become experts in their field.........[NOT]. The more she pushes this quackery the more people are laughing at her imo.

Junie, I have always prided myself on having an open mind and want to make sure that I "hear" what someone has to say whether I agree with them or not. I know that any dietary advice here is pertinent to the individual giving it but I still think I can take away something that may or may not improve my health.

I am willing to cut out beef and use meat more as a condiment rather than the main food in my meals. It would be interesting to also cut back on some fats and oils and add more vegetables to my diet. I am willing to give it a try. At first I was very angry what I was reading in this thread but I know I need to mellow out and own the fact that I have little interest in changing my lifestyle......but having more energy is really tempting to me, so I am willing to make a few, small changes.

Whatever the case may be, I think all of us who have responded on this thread are interested in nutrition and wellness. I enjoy conversing on the subject and like the back and forth.Woman Happy

With all due respect I think posters need to be aware of Internet shilling to push traffic to sites. (Which is one reason a shill loves to see their threads bumped up.) That's different than regular back and forth of opinions. I also think Healthcare By Internet is dangerous. I noticed in some posts on the thread sidsmom/Lacey tag team told posters to ignore the thread and go away if they had different opinions so it's not exactly a thread of open minds imo.

I just visited the American Diabetes Association website,
the holy grail for many Americans w/ this modern day, PREVENTABLE CURABLE illness.

Searched for Registered Dietitians.

The 'Meet the Team' advisors for 'healthy' living....on the American Diabetes Association website, mind you....the Best of the Best for the Diabetic community...yielded results which were not surprising.

Three of the seven 'healthy' eating Registered Dietitians

are VISIBLY overweight/obese!

I'm sure I'll hear, "but 4 of them are slim!"....uh, no.

If over 40% of your 'healthy' food advisors are obese,

on a DIABETES board, something's not right.

You're doing it wrong!!

This would be funny if not so, so, incredibly sad.

Just as an FYI, the McDougall diet encompasses more than potatoes.

Again, as Devil's Advocate-How many people that you know that have been treated for High Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Blocked arteries, chronic pain-that have been 'cured' by modern mainstream medicine?

Is that working? or generating a lot of income?

There is no cure for diabetes. Essential hypertension is not always because of poor dietary choices either. Chronic pain doesn't always have to do with poor diet. I know someone with migraines who has eliminated everything in his diet ..... all meat, dairy and he has adapted a vegan diet lifestyle. He continues to suffer daily with migraines. That's why giving false hope is wrong and stating that a plant based diet will cure all medical issues just isn't being truthful.

Is a plant based diet healthy? Of course for some individuals it may be but it is not a CURE for all illnesses and that is what I find insulting to anyone who has a scientific background... There are many different dietary approaches depending on the person's health history.....plant based is not the only one. And claiming a CURE is possible is sending false hope.

There are many people that have been helped. Many testomonials. I, myself will share the results of mulitple diagnostic tests taken this week. Did your  friend with the migraines get relief from mainstream medicine? Did he follow the McDugall plan, or some other, 'vegan' plan? If the answers are no, it's a moot point.

Anecdotal evidence without studies to back them are not science and never will be. My friend did follow a vegan diet. The McDougall plan  and his paid disciples have nothing to do with science and everything to do with selling weekend seminars....making the kindly Dr. McDougall rich off the backs of sick people being promised a cure. A cure that won't come for most relieving them of $$$$ taken from their wallets... money they could have used to pursue a healthier lifestyle.

Now, I am done. Continue to preach false cures that will never happen. I only responded to this thread because I despise false hope and information that has nothing to do with real scientific studies. False information.....

I despise false info and false hope as well.
