meclizine is Dramamine and is sold over the counter in a less drowsy formula along with their original formula. I have used both formulas and they both made me drowsy but the less drowsy formula allowed me to be able to drive.

Anyway, he is certain that my virus/cold, whatever has gotten into the inner ear causing the dizziness. He put me on Meclizine, which is basically Dramamine. He said it could last for weeks, but if it worsens, to see him again. Also, the nausea is likely caused by the dizziness. He said, go home and watch TV. I said "what"? He said stare at the TV and try not to move your head from side to side. I told him that watching TV all day sounded easy enough.
Not.
Glad you got to the doc and are hopefully on the mend. Funny, though, that your doc said NOT to move your head. Of course, when you have this, you don't WANT to move your head. However, my one ENT said that moving, although painfully scary to those of us who have had Labrynthitis/vertigo, is what one needs to do. So, trying to move your head from side to side each morning is the best bet. That was her advice, of course, and everyone will say something different.
