I have had 2 TENS units over the years; one was in about 1980s and it burned up. Then I got one about 5 years ago from the Pain Relief Place.
It worked OK but then they quit selling the pads that worked for me. And it's impossible to wear when you are sweating so for winter use only.

I have a couple of different ones that were prescribed for me by different medical providers.
I personally think that it's better to get them this way, if at all possible. As someone already mentioned, your insurance will help to pick up the cost of the unit.
This way, they are set up for your personal needs. They can be programmed for you, and for how you need them in particular.
I have a TENS unit, and a portable combo. TENS/Interferential Unit, that is similar to the type of e-stim. unit that can be found in therapists and doctor's offices.
