Through the years, doctors have told me that I need to take iron supplements but everytime that I do, my constipation problem becomes major which makes me stop taking it. Last week, I saw an ad about Geritol and thought I'd give it a try. Ordered the 3 pak from Amazon and started taking it this past Tuesday. I took it in he morning after breakfast. By evening, I felt a little funny...not really bad but not myself. Next morning, I took half the recommended dosage and it didn't affect me as much. I'm assuming it was the Geritol but I'm not sure. Possibly my body adapting to it??
Anyone else have negative experiences with this product? I should add that I had problems with other vitamins, too, such as Andrew Lessman's brand.

Hey there Mmsfoxxie. I too have to take iron supplemets and have tried the liquid Geritol. It did not give me any probelms, but I have found a less expensive liquid iron. I have to special order it from the pharmacy, but it is a 12 oz. bottle for around $6. I think it is called ferrous sulfate solution and it is in a white bottle with a turquoise color writing. This liquid is not as dark as the Geritol nor does it taste as bad.
Also, my doctor told me to take vitamin C to help my body absorb the iron. So, if I don't have it on hand, I make sure to drink orange juice right behind the iron.

I used to have to get iron shots (good grief did they hurt)!! Then for many years I had to take iron pills (prescription). They constip ated me so badly....(anyway).
I should probably take them again because I have very low blood, but no thanks.

If you have problems with iron pills and REALLY have low iron, check with your doctor about getting an iron infusion.
They work immediately and have no side effects.
They are for people who are very anemic.

Mine is not VERY low but every time I get blood work done, I'm a little low and although I'm busy during the day at work, when I get home I'm too tire to do anything. If you have problems with iron pills and REALLY have low iron, check with your doctor about getting an iron infusion.

It's making me feel different and I hesitate to say anything to anyone I know because I get teased because everything seems to make me feel funny....vitamins, riding in some cars, sitting in too much water like the jacuzzi, hard liquor except for one glass of wine. I can't do boats without Dramamine. So now, I just suffer in silence. Thank youuuuu! My DR. put on that for the same reason for iron made me feel funny as well also had a reaction my Tongue swelled up. i was immediately taken off.
