The last time I went to the doctor he told me to try garcinia as it is touted to help metabolise sugars more efficiently. I have been taking it - bought it at walmart - but that is what is in the TSVand it is cheaper than I paid at Walmart for it. I am peased to have a doctor who is not adverse to using alternative means rather than jumping right in to meds.

If you are interested in alternatives to support healthy blood sugar levels or to reduce blood sugar levels, look in to the research on Alpha Lipoic Acid.

Garcinia is shown to be effective at 60% HCA, but only when not compounded with other agents. It's also shown to be effective for weight loss by blocking fat storage and reducing bad cholesterol, but not blood sugar control.

The test component is garcinia cambogia, which is not the form in the TSV and the TSV also incorporates other ingredients. Not sure you'll get the product performance you're looking for.

Metabolic Essentials.....It is a tablet taken with meals...I stumbled on this product and wondered if it really helps with weight control as well as it is supposed to help lower cholesterol (my numbers are a tad high) has anyone used this product and if so what were the results?

momtodogs....ME is a Julian Whitaker product, he also recommends a minifast along with the ME (skipping breakfast)...This product contain green tea as well as Vit D and a couple of herbal ingediants as well as magnesium. I would not take it because it contains soy and gelatin, but that is me. Everyone will say exercise and diet...of course that is applicable if weight loss is your goal. However, if you find supplementation that gives you that extra boost or a little encouragement along this challenging path, then go for it. Just do some research and read a lot of reviews. The product you are considering targets syndrome X and if, after doing the research, incorporating exercise and diet, and if you feel it will give you the edge then go ahead and include it in your plan. I know that diet and exercise are the key...obviously a pill is not a panacea, but it might help give you a boost. Good luck on your journey!

Thanks phoenixbrd for the explanation.

My cholesterol is a bit high and I need to lose 8-10 lbs and I thought that the product might help me jump start the weight loss as well, but there is a history of breast cancer in the family so I stay from soy! Thank you for that information.

I have injured my back and cannot do any major exercising right now and it is minus temps in my area so even if I could walk it's to cold now...it is an effort to do much of anything.

I am not a big eater so overeating is not my problem, I need to move!!

momtodogs - with these bitter temps walking outside really is difficult. Do you live near a mall? The mall near me has a mall-walkers program and they even give you a map of the mall that shows distances.

Buck-i-Nana...the mall is about 45 minutes from me. I walk a lot in the summer, almost every day but this winter not at all Maybe I'll put on my sneakers and walk up and down the steps at home once my back is better.

That's a bit far to drive to take a comfy walk. My mall is only about 10 minutes from me. The only time I go there though is when it's too cold to take the dogs any distance for their walk, otherwise if they're up to the cold, I just bundle up and go outside. Hope your back heals up soon. You might check amazon for Leslie Sanzone's walking DVDs - they're really quite good. I used to use them in bad weather years ago.
