Thanks everyone.
So many have gone through this.
Of course, before surgery, I had to run into a gal that knew of someone, that had died from this.
Oh well,
Guess there's always a person with something negative to say.
Glad that the majority did not have any issues.
Hope everyone has a nice weekend, thanks again.

I had mine removed in 2007. I woke up in the middle of the night shivering, could not stop. Luckily my daughter and I were living in the same house, woke her up not knowing what was going on or what to do. She called 911 and the next thing I knew there were six men standing in my bedroom!!
They left it up to me, go to the hospital or not, I decided to go, still shivering and shaking. Turned out it was my Gall Bladder and thank God I made the decision to go to the hospital, I would have been in serious trouble had I stayed home. There was no pain at all after surgery and I went home after two days.
What was so strange is that I never had any kind of attack or warning prior to the night I had the shivers and shaking. After reading about the horrific pain some of you had prior to surgery I would say I was very lucky.

Interesting. I never really had pain or tenderness, but every three months or so, I would be violently ill.

It's been a couple of years, but feel so much better since gall bladder removed. I did have periodic, abrupt digestive problems the frist couple of years, but things settled down. Good luck to you.

Long time ago I had gallbladder surgery. Long story short, had one child by C-section and a week or so later horrible pain, jaudice, and because I was 21 years old they did not diagnose the problem right away. In any case smart doctor figured it out and OUT IT CAME. Spent a whole life time without a gallbladder, probably heredity. And so far I am good. Eat anything unfortunately... but hot spice has always been a no-no.

After I got home from the hospital, I got an infection in the incision and had a temp of 103° for a week. Finally doctor lanced it and within an hour temp was normal, but they'll have to catch me before I'll ever have that done again.
Wow @Kachina624 , me too! It was December of 1970, and the doctor assured me that I'd be out of the hospital in a few days. I developed a Staph infection and was in the hospital for something like 10 days. They lanced mine three times! And this was at a well known, major medical center. I came home on Christmas Eve and hurt like crazy for days. Amazing how this procedure has changed.

@Shoesnbags Sounds like we had twin surgeries. I'd never want to go through that again.

Glad it went well for you, @shoppersince1989. I never had a pain like that in my life until during my first pregnancy. When the baby was a month old I had an attack that, like yours, wouldn't go away. I ended up needing surgery. What awful timing. Back then it was a big slice across your belly followed by a row of staples to hold everything together while healing.

I had mine out in 98 or 99 (I can't remember which). I had an attack so bad, I thought I was having a heart attack. I had JUST been in for my annual wellness exam the week before. I got back into my primary and they sent me to a surgeon the same week. They did the ultra sound and I was in surgery a few days later. It was done laproscopically and you can hardly see the scars. The only one that bothered me was by my belly button because all my pants hit that spot.
I was eating mexican food the day after surgery. Although I would not recommend it--even my surgeon raised her eyebrows and asked "how did that work out for you?" LOL.

After surgery I had such relief but within a few months, I had similar pains. Over the following few months, I underwent every test possible but there was no apparent reason for my pain. The only explanation was nerve pain. I've been taking neurontin since.
