Fosomax and your experiences

I have been on this drug at least 10 years and am getting nervous about it. My aunt, who is 91 years old, was on in for a long time and recently her femur broke causing her to fall. She also has congestive heart failure. Now, I know her age has alot to do with this, but also makes me nervous knowing about the now known side effects of fosomax. I might also mention that osteoperosis runs in my family and my mom also had osteo and chf. My mom did not take fosomax.

I will talk to my dr. but I am thinking of getting off it for good and try to do the calcium, more milk and dairy and exercise (which I am already doing-however, I am not a milk drinker). What do you think? I am beginning to think that the fewer drugs you take, the better, although I know wome things are essential (like my thyroid meds).

Thanks for your thoughts and ideas or experiences.

Meant to add that evidently some of the side effects of fosomax are linked to CHF and that the drug seems to "move" from one bone area to another, leaving that part susceptible to weakness. At least that is my understanding, but I am not a doctor.
