There are no guarantees but I'd say keep doing what you are doing and be very aware of your health - how you feel, changes, etc. Some women breeze through w/o any real problems, others live a nightmare. Hormones can go out of whack & you can develop vitamin/mineral deficiencies. Catching and correcting things like this before they get bad will help.

I was in the best shape of my life, doing weight training, cardio, eating very healthy when perimenopause started. It came with other health problems (that doctors did not find) at the same time and my lifestyle was destroyed. I could not afford the only doctors who might have helped because they did not accept insurance. I felt horrible, suffered extreme fatigue (could not get out of bed at times), and gained weight while eating healthy & working out. Eventually I was not able to workout very often.

Years and massive amounts of research later, I am healing my body. Doctors have not been very helpful at all.

If you don't mind sharing - what happened after perimenopause? I have some symptoms of Adrenal Fatigue and I have been trying to take care of that on my own since dr's do not really recognize the Adrenal Fatigue, that's why I was wondering what Dr's kept missing on you, if you don't mind sharing Smiley Happy

If I can stick my nose in Smile, About the time of meno, it seemed everything fell apart. I had severe fatigue, body aches/pains, and was to the point some days, I just had to force myself to remain active. I stayed exhausted. I just felt so horrible ! I thought geesh, just give me back my period, even though I had always had severe endometriosis and much pain - it was far better than where I was at. I thought surely just aging and meno , wasn't suppose to be "this bad. " {#emotions_dlg.crying}

I had several uti's , my first kidney stone, had always had low blood pressure - but it went to high, and I got a cholesterol reading of 469! {#emotions_dlg.ohmy} The weight started to pile on and I was active and watching what I ate. I just couldn't understand what in the world was happening !

I awoke one morning -to my clavicle on the right side being severely swollen . When my doctor saw me , she immediately started talking cancer. I was terrified. We discussed nodules and what was ahead, but decided to first, do a full blood panel -that should have been done long ago. I still kick myself for not know enough to insist on this myself.{#emotions_dlg.blushing}

Turns out it was my thyroid. My TSH was 7.3. I am now on meds and am at 3.7 and feel like a new person. I have lost 24lbs and still going.

Sometimes it isn't just a matter of eating too much or differently, there can be real medical issues.

I agree.

I was doing everything right & still went from being a very healthy gym rat to hardly being able to get out of bed. I knew it wasn't my diet that was a problem.

It helps to have doctors that have a clue but not everyone has access to good doctors. My current doctor does not even know how to test for thyroid much less interpret the results. The only good thyroid doctor around here does not accept insurance. Sometimes you have to just do what you can.

Eat less and exercise more, I've weighed the same for the past 7 years and I'm now 63. I'm not slim and gravity has taken it's toll, but I feel good and my health is good.
