I received an email from a friend that stated Smithfields has sold their farms to China the livestock will be raised here, but processed in China. It went on to detail the difference in handling of food here and our regulations and their's that does not exist and the deplorable conditions over there. Please be aware when shopping what you are buying and where it is comng from. Sometimes the name China is in very small print at the bottom of the packaging so read careful. Even check frozen vegtables they are on the list so it isn't just meat. I can't believe we have to do this to keep our families safe. I for one will be checking all the food I purchase for my families consumption.

I heard about Smithfield selling out to China a while ago ... a few years back I bought a Smithfield pork roast & had the "runs" for days!! .... I also remember Smithfield being in the news for the way they raised their pigs & the dirty conditions in their processing facilities...... I will never buy a product from them again!! .... for the USA to allow this to happen is a crime .. food from China should not be allowed in this country!!
On another note ... have you tried to buy garlic? ... it comes from China!!! .... why, why, why???? ... California is known for growing garlic so why do we have to have garlic from China in our stores??

Try the natural foods stores for garlic! Very often it is USA grown organic!!!! OR if you have any little patch of land grow your own. You get the garlic (and better varieties of it) from a place in Colorado--can't remember the name! Plant in Oct/Nov harvest in June or July!

Is this the email? (below picture...in gray)
This story broke close to 3 yrs ago.
I remember many threads on this forum.
For years, Snopes has debunked the
sending-animals-to-China for slaughter story.
Have a feeling this story will be Urban Legand for many, many yrs to come.

@sidsmom No that isn't the email I received, mine was from a friend and it just stated what I said in my first email. I don't know if it is true, my purpose was to raise awareness in people to read what they are buying. Not all countries have the same food regulations, safety and follow up we have here. Better safe than sorry. I did not realize it had been talk about before or was some kind of scam. Thank you for the information you provided.
