Usually at night when I try to go to sleep, I can hear a sound like the ocean in my ears. No ear pain or dizziness, but it is really hard to fall asleep with this noise going on. I had to miss a day of work for being up all night.

Could this be fluid in my ears?

Maybe yes, maybe no. If it's so severe that it keeps you from sleeping, it's time you saw a doctor.

Might be something very serious. Please see a Dr.

I don't know about your case but I remember mine and it was when I was in the 8th grade. I was having trouble hearing, especially in classes where I sat in the back. My mother took me to the doctor and he used some type of vacuuming device and I can't begin to tell you the stuff I saw coming out of my ears. After that I could hear very well, and also had fewer sinus type of headaches.

While that was over 60 years ago I remember it like it was yesterday. I had no pain symptoms, at least non that bothered me enough to tell my mother, just could not hear well. I am sure they probably have a different way of detecting this and also correcting it nowadays. Back then there were no ENT around and this was done by our old GP.

Don't know if there is any connection to your problem, but that is something I experiences albeit many moons ago.

It sounds like tinnitus, which could be related to noise exposure, ear infections with fluid, hearing loss, etc. Sometimes even excessive wax with fluid behind it can mimic these symptoms. Definitely need to see a physician, preferrably an Ear, Nose, Throat Physician (ENT), especially if this is of sudden onset. A hearing testing should also be conducted.

Feel better and best of luck!

You are hearing the blood circulation through the vessels in the ear. People become so used to it that they ignore it. I am not sure why you are not able to ignore it. Perhaps you have a vessel very close to the receptors.

I get fluid in my ears when my allergies are at their worst. On those days I take a decongestant with my antihistamine and it goes away.

ITA. Seeking medical advice with this kind of symptoms on a shopping forum instead of your doctor isn't a good idea.
