I have used a CPAP for nearlly twelve years. I've, occasionally, a humidifier in the bedroom. I toss and turn in the first few hours of sleeping and started using a 6ft. hose and that allows movement flexibity. I am miserable now because I have been waiting for a new CPAP maching for three months because of supply issues--microchips-mainly. i am tired throughout the day because I don't have my CPAP. I will be ecstatic when the new machine arrives.

My brother also uses a c pap machine. I saw a commercial on t v about some thing you just push a button, think it s called enspire!?
I get you must have to have something inserted in you surgically, but may be worth it. Does anyone know what I m talking about?

Yes, it's called Inspire. My friend's husband just got one. He's been a mask CPAP user for years. Now that they are retired and want to travel overseas a lot, he was having issues with the whole mask set up situation.
The Inspire Sleep Apnea device is implanted under his skin on the right side of his chest. He has a small hand-held device he uses each night to turn it on when he goes to bed and off again in the morning.
He said he's loving it. Now they can travel without bringing the bulky CPAP machine, special pillows, etc. He said his doctor told him about it after he asked him. Said he saw a commercial on TV and wanted to give it a try. Doctor said OK.
I didn't ask my friend about the cost or anything. She said it's also much better for her because he was always complaining about the whole mask/hose thing.

I never had cpap but years ago my friend's husband did. He was obese and had sleep apnea. He just couldn't take it after months so he had bariatric surgery and lost 60lbs and his sleep apnea.

Love your name. I've been on Cpap ResMed Airsense10 since Jan. 2023. It took a few weeks to get used to it. One night I realized that when I awoke, I felt refreshed, no headache, no drowsiness. That particular morning is when I was convinced that I truly need to get used to the Cpap therapy. As time went on, also noticed a positive change in my mood and anxiety level.
Some things that help:
1. use the humidifier (it helps you not get dry mouth or sinuses),
2. Wear a silk/satin hair cap - so the straps don't pull or break your hair
3. There are memory foam masks that maybe more comfortable
4. there's a sleep apnea forum and the members are very helpful and knowledgeable
apneaboard.com
All the best to you. It really does take some time to get accustomed to but your daytime quality of life will improve.

Hey everyone. Thanks for all of the responses. My second night was much better. I slept for nine hours! Probably because of the Xanax I took and the fact that I had been awake all night previous. I got a side sleeper pillow today that has indentations for my mask/tubing. Memory foam. Will try it out tonight.
People here and other places have mentioned the Inspire thing that's being advertised on tv. I just had a pacemaker implanted so I'm definitely not wanting another implanted device.

@DottieBlue : My DH uses the Bi- pap machine. I am a very lite sleeper. DH had rotator cuff surgery and currently sleeps in a recliner. I have been sleeping in a recliner for years. We are currently in the den . He is sleeping peacefully but the Bi- pap machine wakes me up but I just deal with it. Previously before using the machine , DH grasped so hard to breath that he would jump up out of bed and I was afraid that he die.
DH saw the commercial for the new implanted device and said: Nope not for him.

My husband got the machine probably 18 years ago and tried using it for maybe 2 weeks and never used it again. He does stop breathing at night and it's his choice not to use it. I no longer mention it.
