When my daughter had 5th disease (many, many years ago, in grade school), the school sent her home & requested a dr.'s slip before she could return. I was told it was a childhood disease. She only had the spots on her arms & legs...........so maybe it's 2 different diseases--never heard it called slapped face cheek???

I had it once, shiny places on my stomach area. The doc. took a sample and sent it off. Then he gave me a shot or meds and it went away. Don't remember too much, too long ago to remember it.

In my whole life, I've never ever heard of either of these. You learn something new every day, or at least close to that!!

Yes, I had it in my thirties. I felt kind of flu like also. I remember the headache. Came and went for a while. Cheeks were super red.

ps... it is called Fifth Disease because it was the fifth virus identified when they were classifying them...or so I heard.
