Happen to read an article on MetaMucil, explaining the many benefits for digestion, Heart, blood sugar.

I've never thought about it, but the results seemed excellent.

Then I read an actual MetaMucil label in the store and side effects and how careful NEW users had to be?

Yikes.

Lots of instructions of mixing the powder. Concerns abounded.

I am a fan of Lessman and see he has FiberMucil.

Capsules, it appears.

Seems relevant for us all to think about AS WE AGE and our bodies do not process many things well, appetites diminish.

Actual experiences, new information, WELCOME!

@1Professor.  My dad drank that stuff every morning, I think since it was invented.   Mom said it kept him regular.   I think I'd rather take capsules but they may not work as well.

One of the benefits of Metamucil is that it contains psyllium fiber which helps to lower cholesterol.  I think their warnings are for new customers to begin slowly and gradually increase dosage as tolerated.  Any kind of powder should be mixed throughly before swallowing.

Re: Fiber sups? Metamucil?

ugh its so disgusting. If you drink it immediately its gritty. If you dont, it seizes up into a gelatinous lump. Gag! Many ppl prefer miralax. But the dosing is very iffy. It might work tomorrow or the next day. Or not at all. So you dont know whether to take another dose or not. And how much?? Its a crapshoot. Haha see how i did that. I am sadly an "expert" on laxatives 😬 My doc has given me Rx laxative which I only use when absolutely desperate.

Best plan for me is a colace or pericolace capsule a couple times a week.

yeah I tried that. Seemed like a good idea. Until I couldn't leave the house the rest of the day. But it tasted so good.  Yikes

I have no problem with the pure psyllium husk powder. I've been taking that for many years.  I buy Now Foods brand.

I eat the Metamucil gummies. The thought of drinking it was not for me. I happen to feel better when I take them. I adjust the amount I take based on what I need.

My gastro doc recommended Benefiber powder to me 15 years ago, I put 2 teaspoons in a glass of water each morning, cant even tell it is in there.

The fiber supplement I use is Benefiber.   It was recommended by my doctor.  I put 2 teaspons in my hot tea every morning.  It disolves instantly.  You can mix it in hot or cold food.   I tried Metamucil in the past and did not like it at all.
