Wondering if anyone has any experience on which fiber supplement is better as far as not having side effects such as gas and bloating? Thanks.

No when I tried those things I was so bloated and gassy it was not fun. The trick is to start out with a very small amount and gradually build up. I make a super green smoothie every morning now, that probably has way more fiber in it and taste great so I don't need to use those things.

Why are you interested in fiber supplements? We really don't need fiber. It is another marketing myth.

Fruits and vegetables work really well.

I would have to disagree with the post that we don't need fiber. I suppose if we got an abundance in our daily diets, it would not be necessary and even though I try to consume foods for fiber, I still take a Fibercon tablet (per a doctor's recommendation) every day and it has helped me for many years.

Because when I eat more fiber ""things"" move smoother but some days I don't eat enough and that is why I was interested in the fiber supplements.

There is an herbal tea called Smooth Move that works overnight. When I was going thru chemo, on very rare occasions, I would drink this tea and it worked really well. By the next a.m. I was right as rain. It is organic and contains a blend of licorice root, bitter fennel, sweet orange peel, cinnamon bark, coriander, ginger, and orange peel oil. You steep it for 10-15 minutes and drink hot or cold at bedtime. I thought it tasted fine. Contains 16 tea bags and is under $5 at most places that sell tea. I bought mine at my grocery store natural food section. So much better than the horrible OTC remedies!!!

I swear by Benefiber.

There are times when you must speak, not because you are going to change the opposing side, but because if you do not speak, they have changed you.

My GI dr. recommended Benefiber and I take it every day.
